We don't just teach Pilates.
We live it.
Between us, our team brings over 115 years of experience in the fitness industry — running studios, teaching globally, training and mentoring the next generation of instructors.
Meet Our Team
Amanda's story starts on stage, professional dancing from age thirteen, then representing New Zealand in Sport Aerobics before years spent as a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, and gym manager. She co-founded and has operated HABITAT gym since 2013, and co-founded the Rebel Pilates reformer studio alongside Ginny Scahill. Now an international fitness industry MC and founder of Rebel Education, she brings a practical, no-nonsense approach focused on real-world teaching skills so every graduate can teach with confidence.
Originally from Alabama, Lilly has called New Zealand home for over a decade. With a background in competitive gymnastics, cheerleading, aerial acrobatics, and law, Lilly found her passion for Pilates in 2020, training in mat and reformer and quickly becoming a sought-after instructor. She brings her expertise to Rebel Education as our Student Coordinator, Assessor, and Workshop Facilitator.
Aimee brings over 20 years in health and fitness, spanning exercise science, personal training, and Pilates instruction, plus hands-on experience owning her own gym. She trained with Rebel Education to deepen her craft and now teaches with a focus on foot strength, mobility, and ground connection as the foundation of good movement. Her classes blend strong, functional work with mindful control, precision, and flow.
Ginny brings thirty years of teaching group fitness and Pilates, twenty years of dance, and seven years of yoga into every class. A former international Les Mills presenter, she's known for her energy, humour, and ability to make complex movement concepts feel accessible, inspiring students to become confident, capable instructors themselves.
Why we built this.
Rebel Education exists because the options for becoming a qualified Pilates instructor in New Zealand are limited and wildly varied. On one end, high-end classical programmes costing $8,000+ that take twelve months to complete. On the other, online-only courses that hand you an exercise library and call it a qualification. We didn't think either extreme was serving the people who actually want to teach.
So we built something in between. Online theory combined with hands-on in-person workshops and supervised teaching practice, designed to fit around real life, priced fairly, and built right here in New Zealand by New Zealanders who teach every day.
We go beyond exercise knowledge. Our courses develop the full range of skills you need to become an amazing teacher — from coaching and cueing to filling classes and building a successful career in this industry.
Whether you're a complete beginner, a fitness pro looking to upskill, or someone chasing a career change — if you want to teach with real confidence, you're in the right place.
Real over perfect
Real clients don't move like textbooks. We teach you to work with the body in front of you.
Education first
We don't chase trends. We teach principles and coaching skills that last a career.
Community matters
Our students become part of something bigger than a course. The Rebel whānau keeps going.
Challenge the norm
Pilates should be accessible, not exclusive. We're not interested in gatekeeping.
